McKenzie Friend Volunteers

KCLSU is looking for volunteers to become McKenzie Friends for College Committee Panel Hearings on student appeals and misconduct.

McKenzie Friends will provide a listening ear to those undergoing College Committee hearings and may also be required to accompany peers to hearings as friendly support.

Applicants will not be expected to provide official advice, but simply “be there” for a peer during a potentially stressful time. This is not only an opportunity to develop invaluable active listening skills, but a chance to make difference in someone else's lives.

Key dates

The commitment is to attend training and at least one support session per term. College hearings are usually held on Wednesdays or Thursdays at Waterloo Campus.

Training for the role will be held on:

  • Wednesday 6 December, 2.30pm – 4.30pm or
  • Thursday 7 December, 1.30pm – 3.30pm
