Overview

We are planning on hosting a Black History Month poetry night to coincide with our BHM Poetry Competition. At this Poetry Night, students will come and read their submissions, and the winners of the competition will be announced at the end of the night.

We'll also have a speaker (Nick Makoha, PhD student at KCL studying English) read from his most recent highly revered poetry collection 'Kingdom of Gravity'. This event is a great way to celebrate Black history, by giving young people a voice to share their poetry and a safe space to do so in. You may also be exposed students to poetry and poetic forms that they may have not heard before!
