Overview
The KCL Surgical Society proudly announces their flagship event, the national student conference, titled 'Metamorphosis'. We'll be exploring the transformation of surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic. Join us virtually as we hear from world-renowned speakers and engage in interesting workshops. The day will consist of about 5 speakers in the morning followed by a series of online workshops looking at innovations in surgery and how surgical teaching and training can be enhanced in the future. The event is primarily for medical students but students from all disciplines are welcome. We are aiming to attract an international audience given the virtual platform. In addition to the talks and workshops we will be running a surgical-themed hackathon looking at 'Sustainability in Surgery'. Students from all courses are allowed to participate. Furthermore our outreach team is running a Widening Participation initiative consisting of a series of talks and workshops aimed at 6th form students from disadvantaged/widening participation schools. This day is to encourage them to pursue a career in medicine giving them insight into the application process and the life of a medical student.
