Overview

Interested in making a difference in your local community? Volunteering is a great way to gain skills, meet new people and do something great for a cause you care about.

Connect with Charities is a series of online workshops that will give you the chance to hear from a range of organisations and learn about what they do as well as how you can volunteer your time. There are hundreds of volunteering opportunities across London and each workshop will focus on a different theme, helping you understand more about the different sectors.

As we celebrate Black History Month, this event is all about Anti-Racism Volunteering.

We’re still in the process of confirming our charity speakers, so check back for more information on who is attending:

  • BLAM Charity - BLAM aim to promote a positive dialogue of social identity and culture through history. BLAM’s Youth Project Workers volunteer with Primary and Secondary Schools across London to ensure the school curriculum is more diverse and reflective of African and African-Caribbean culture, history and heritage.
  • Equality 4 Black Nurses - Equality 4 Black Nurses are a recently formed non-profit in light of Covid-19 and the inequalities faced by BAME nurses working through the pandemic. They believe black nurses can embrace who they are, can define their future progression, and stand up against racism.
  • KCLSU Volunteering and Fundraising  - On our KCLSU Volunteering system, we host a variety of charities that look to combat inequality through a diverse range of projects. As well as the two anti-racism charities speaking at the event, our Volunteering and Fundraising Coordinator will be talking through other volunteer roles that work with BAME communities in different ways to tackle inequalities and unique challenges.

To secure your virtual seat, simply register by buying a ticket. You will receive an email with the instructions on how to join. The charities and KCLSU are looking forward to seeing you there!
