Overview

Whether you're interested in a career working with young people, or you want to inspire the next generation by volunteering with those who need your support, this session will help you to find the volunteer role for you and give you a hand with where to start.

Giving your time to volunteer at University will set you apart from others in your future career, and volunteering with children and young people is always a fun and unpredictable experience, as well as a chance to develop your skills.

Our four Charity partners will be:

BOOKMARK READING -
In an average class, 8 children will leave primary school unable to read well. As a Bookmark volunteer, you’ll help to stop that trend. You’ll help children who struggle with their reading gain essential skills at a crucial age. This will prepare them to move up the school ready to tackle new challenges without falling further behind.

COIN STREET -
The Coin Street Community Programmes Team deliver a range of programmes to support participants towards a good life through promoting health and wellbeing, creativity and self expressions, employment and enterrprise and skills and learning for life. We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities including one-off activities, regular sessions and project based programmes.

ACTION TUTORING -
Pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds aren’t less able, but they have less access to the tools that support them to progress in school.  This means they are not able to reach their full academic potential.  Action Tutoring partners with primary and secondary schools to deliver tutoring programmes for pupils preparing for their GCSEs and SATs in English and maths.

KEEN LONDON -
KEEN London is the only charity in London providing one-to-one support at free sports and activity sessions for children with additional needs or disabilities. We believe no child should miss out on the benefits of sports and physical activity. With the support of our amazing volunteers, our weekly sessions give our athletes the chance to play games, make friends and, most importantly, have fun!

There will be four 10 minute talks, with lots of time for questions and conversations before you sign up, and a chance to network during the break with free food provided.

Make sure to book your free place!
