KCL Strand Campus falls in an area (Strand, Aldwych, Covent Garden, Embankment) that is collectively called The Northbank BID. They aim to promote business and leisure activities to the local community, to help visitors to the area and to monitor the environment (safety and security).

It’s worth checking out their website, as it tells you all the exciting events that they host during the year (a lot of them free / community based).

For today however, the Northbank BID ‘on-street ambassadors’ will be our knowledgeable hosts for this special 2 hour walking tour. They are easy to spot in their signature bowler hats!

So, what’s on the tour?

  • A bit of history about London’s famous Northbank – Trafalgar Square, The National Gallery, Embankment Gardens, and of course London’s famous West End theatre district.
  • A visit to Covent Garden – one of the world’s most famous markets and now a hub of fantastic boutique shopping, lively buskers, restaurants and bars.
  • A chance to familiarise yourself with the area in you’ll be studying. Including which tube stations access the area.
  • Information and registry details about how to obtain a Northbank Privilege card, which gets you discounts and special offers from many local businesses. It’s free to all those that work or study in the area.
  • Meet your course mates, and make new friends.

We will meet at the main doors of KCL (Strand campus). Please dress appropriately and be sure to bring cash / card as there will be places to stop for a bite to eat en- route. Please note that the tour is rated an easy pace, with no major hills, so it is suitable for wheelchair bound students.
