95 Chancery Ln, London WC2A 1DT

Overview

Please Note: This event is for incoming Study Abroad students who are studying at King’s for either a semester or a full year only.

You've probably seen a few (more than a few!) English pubs dotted around our campuses, and you've perhaps heard about the love of pub culture from Englishmen? Now is your chance to experience one of the best - and it’s only a hop, skip and a jump from Strand campus #winning!

Study Abroad peer advisors invite you along to The Knights Templar to hang out, have them answer any questions you may have about the programme so far, soak up some English hospitality, and maybe grab some traditional English ‘pub grub’ with some of your course mates. Please make your own way to the pub, and look out for Peer Advisors on arrival (blue tee shirts – hard to miss!).

A bit of history....

This pub is the former Union Bank, and takes its name from the order of Warrior Knights across whose land Chancery Lane was built in the 12th century. It is named after an ancient order of Warrior Monks – The Knights Templar which features heavily in The Da Vinci Code. If you look really carefully, during the scene featuring Middle Temple Church, you may spot this pub.

Loads of seating, and if reviewers on Yelp and Trip Advisor are to be believed then you’d best make a trip to the loos while you’re here…apparently they are quite impressive (a strange calling card…!). This pub has free Wifi, and step free access.

Food and drink....

JD Wetherspoons are a well-known chain of pubs throughout England and serve a wide variety of pub classics. Often there are special meal deals, and the portions are generous. Always a good selection of craft beers on tap, as well as soft options, and beer / wine. Food and drink is at your own expense, but the menu is extensive, cheap and cheerful (you’ll get a pint and a meal for under a tenner).
