The Southbank

Overview

The Southbank Centre is once again hosting its annual Winter Festival. Open between 10am – 10pm daily, and between Dec 4, and Jan 17, there is plenty of time to catch it.

As I’m sure all KCL students are aware, the nearest Tube station is Waterloo, although you can walk from Embankment or Charing Cross over Waterloo Bridge to get the full effect of the sparkling Christmas lights over the Thames (lovely).

There will be a festive Christmas Market along the riverside where you can buy decorations, and gifts for friends and family, as well a filling your belly full of delicious food and beverage. Sweets – check. Bratwurst – check. Delicous Hot chocolate – check. Alpine Lodge serving mulled wine – check. The list goes on….(I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!)

There are activities for all the family, including a circus, the beautiful carousel and even a roller disco. Take your family, head along with a bunch of friends, or venture out on a romantic Christmas date.

The Christmas Market is FREE, but special events are ticketed, and bookable in advance. Full details can be found here.
