Overview
As part of our Disability History Month events programme we are running a virtual panel discussion on Disability, Sex and Relationships. For millenia disabled people were often viewed as perpetual children incapable of adult relationships, sex and intimacy. Today all disabled children are entitled to Sex and Relationship Education and more confident generations of young disabled people are finding the joy of diverse sex and relationships with partners of their choice, but the lack of self-esteem that comes with a disempowering approach to disability can still cause huge harm including consent issues and abuse.
We want to share examples of good and bad practice in sex and relationships to educate students on disability and relationships, uncovering myths and empowering disabled students at King’s. Please join us to hear from our amazing line of panelists: Cathy Reay (or better known as @cathyreaywrites, writer and disabled activist), Louise Bruton, Eshe Kiama Zuri and Aaron Ansuini.
