History & Our Story
“History is a Rorschach test, people. What you see when you look at it tells you as much as much about yourself as it does about the past.” Famously written by Jennifer Donnelly during the French Revolution.
The French Revolution marks a fundamental shift in French society, as well as world history. The abolishment of feudalism, the transformation of subjects to citizens and certain continuities can be paralleled to our transition from school to university, as we too enter a realm of new experiences, opportunities and adventures.
I chose this quote as it marks the importance of individuality and self-awareness. Whilst we all embark on this new beginning I strongly believe that it is imperative not to get lost into the history of the past, but to also build awareness of one’s personal growth. No voice should be left unheard and no thought should be left unfathomed. Whilst I am fully committed to ensuring that all queries and concerns are heard and positively dealt with, I am also interested in listening to any ideas or relevant aspirations you may have.
In light of this, I hope that our shared comments can all eventually help one another, as well as myself as I am no different and stand in the same position as you all.
I am committed to:
- Creating a student anonymous poll for comments to be posted privately or publically on a forum. (E.g: Finding a method which is accessible, simple, quick and straight-foward for everyone)
- Finding a convenient time for your comments/concerns/ideas to be heard personally.
- Creating blogposts of resourceful/helpful information or outcomes of concern to benefit the whole cohort.
- Acting as a reliable and organised representative, with hope that everyone makes their most out of their time in King’s.
