Hey, I'm Edward Jhaveri (but I go by Magnus), I'm a first year Neuroscience student and I'm running for Common Year One Representative! I was born and raised here in London, though I just moved here from Sweden after living there for the last seven years, where I took the IB programme.
Starting university can be confusing. You might find yourself wrestling with some new worries, struggling to keep up with work, or just simply feeling homesick. All of these extra responsibilities that uni life throws upon you can make it hard to cope, and you might decide that any additional problems you encounter within your course simply aren't worth the hassle of fixing. If this is or ever becomes the case, I would love to help! As student representative, I would do my best to gather your opinions on our course and bring any issues or potential changes to the attention of the staff.
I have some experience in similar positions, as in my previous schools I've been my year's representative in the student council. For what it might be worth, I also have experience structuring speeches and engaging in debates, as I used to be very much involved in my previous school's Model United Nations society. Personally, I think it's extremely important for a student representative to be easy to talk to, so if you ever see me on campus feel free to say "hi" and let me know what's on your mind!
I hope to, as your representative, keep things running as smoothly as possible and, in doing so, make your experience here at King's College London the best it can be (or close enough).
