Mountaineering & Climbing

KCLMC provides the opportunities and resources for any student to try out climbing and mountaineering at the lowest possible cost.

We meet every Wednesday at the Castle Climbing Centre (at Manor House in North London) and climb from about 2pm till 7pm.  In the first month of term, we’ll meet anyone who wants to attend our Climbing Taster Sessions at the Strand and show you how to get there, as well as lending you the kit you need for free.

Later in the term (October) we have an outdoor Freshers’ trip where you can try out climbing on real rock in our safe hands.  When you have officially joined KCLMC and we’ve helped you master the basics, you’re invited to all our outdoor trips, including hiking in Wales, ice-climbing in Scotland, glacial mountaineering in the French Alps and rock climbing in Spain.

We also have an active Climbing Team for you to get involved in who travel all around the country for numerous competitions.  Even if you don’t want to compete – supporting them (at the climbing wall and at the bar!) is a fun way to pass time!

Finally, we like to reward ourselves for all this hardcore climbing by enjoying a few pints both at the Waterfront on Wednesdays and also at the numerous social events we host throughout the year.
