Final call for outstanding invoices & payment requisition!!

Hi All,

Please note that we will be closing off all the 2006/07 Clubs & Societies accounts in July 2007. If you have any outstanding invoices & payment requisitions you need to submit then by the close of business on 20 July 2007.

You may submit these invoices & payment requisitions to myself or Anthony Currie at Guy's, Boland House or at the Strand Student Centre.

Please make sure that when submitting a payment requisitions that they have the relevant supporting documents attached i.e. a receipt or invoice. NO PAYMENTS WILL BE PROCESSED WITHOUT THE RELEVANT SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION.

Geoff Bowyer, your new Clubs and Societies Manager, will be starting this Monday. He will be predominantly based at Guys but working cross-site. He will be meeting you all soon and is of course coming to the Macadam Cup.

BUSA Knock-outs! You are...

All applications from clubs and societies have to come via KCLSU, so we need YOU to hand them into STRAND or GUYS student centres by 9th March 2007.

Chinese Society Variety Show 2007: The Exit

The Variety Show has always been one of the highlights in our calendar. It is not only about the spectacular musical and drama, band show and dance performance, starring actors and actresses from our College, but also is an occasion for King’s students and students from numerous Universities, Institutes and Secondary Schools from all over the United Kingdom assemble and unite the sprit to perform on the stage.

Dear KCLSU club/society,

Greetings from the Marketing Department at King's!

As you plan the events that you'll be holding in the upcoming year,
we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you and
advise of how we are possibly able to assist you in some of your aims.

Our remit is to promote the College to prospective students to ensure
we attract the best and brightest students to King's, be they
home, EU or overseas students, undergraduate or postgraduate. We are
thus involved in the creation and delivery of a range of activities
such as Open days, school visits/liaison, education fairs, chat rooms
(to name a very few) to engage with prospective students. We
also enjoy and are continually developing relationships with key
individuals in schools, colleges, universities and other institutions
where students are currently studying/located.

One of many areas we are always particularly proud to promote is the
diversity of King's, not only in our student body, but also the range
of opportunities and experiences available, most obviously in the
range of clubs and societies open to current students. We are
therefore always keen to work with clubs and societies on activities
for prospective students. We would therefore be delighted to hear
from you if you would like to hold any event or activity engaging
with prospective students. This way we can assist you with support,
resources and advice.

It is important to note that schools and colleges do find it
confusing to receive offers of help from different parts of the
College. It would be far more effective to work in partnership and
ensure that none of our activities overlap.

So, I hope we are able to assist and look forward to working with you
during the upcoming year.

ReFreshers Fairs - January

Dear all Group Leaders,

I am writing to you to let you know about the ReFreshers Fairs in January. They will be held at Guys on the 25th and the Strand on the 26th.
The aim of the Fairs is to offer all students another chance to take part in one of the many Student Activity Groups at KCLSU. Also there have been a lot of new groups that have been set up since the beginning of the year so it will provide an opportunity for them to advertise their activity. KCLSU believes it is extremely important to offer all students as many opportunities as possible to get involved with what we provide. So by opening this event to all students and holding it at a time when all students are on site seems to be the best thing to do.

Not only will the ReFreshers Fairs be an excellent way to recruit new members but it will also be a great way to celebrate what your group has already achieved.

A lot of you have already requested space for the fairs but there is still plenty more space to be had.

Tuition Fee Demonstration

KCLSU would like to thank all the clubs and societies that took part in the National Demonstration on Sunday 29 October. Over 100 KCLSU students showed the Government their disapproval for increased tuition fees. The demonstration was a success, but the work doesn't stop here.

KCLSU has set-up two Scrutiny Committees to look at how the College is already spending this year's increase in tuition fees and the other to look at the future of sports at King's. More information to follow on how you can voice your opinions on these two committees.

Wednseday Afternoon Lectures - Please let us know

To all Student Activity Group Leaders,

KCLSU has been made aware of the fact that lectures are still taking place on Wednesday afternoons. We have prompted the College to look into this problem and it appears that the College is very keen to stamp this problem out. It is really important that we get as much information as possible about the students that are having ongoing problems. The official College line is that lectures should not be taking place after 1pm on a Wednesday afternoon, therefore we need you, as group leaders to get the following information:

Name of student
The course module name and ID number
The name of the lecturer holding lectures after 1pm on Wednesdays
