Podcasting
KCLSU wants to offer you as many opportunities to voice your opinions and discuss your passions as possible. That's why we're introducing podcasts to kclsu.org.
Podcasting is a method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio and video, over the Internet for playback on mobile devices and computers. The term was originally coined by Ben Hammersley in an article in the Guardian on February 12, 2004, and was meant as a combination of "broadcasting" and "iPod".
There's loads of free software for receiving podcasts available on the Internet, and you can listen to them through any software that plays mp3s.

How do I create a podcast for kclsu.org?
As we'll be starting off with only audio files, all you have to do is create an mp3 file and email it to us - it's that simple! It will then be made available for download by students and anyone else using the site.
All you need is a microphone, a computer, and software that enables you to create mp3 files. If you don't have the software, here's a list of software for creating podcasts.
Soon you'll be able to come and use equipment at KCLSU for creating podcasts, we just need to set it up!

What should my podcast be about?
Anything that is of interest and relevant to King's College London students, such as
- student activity (campaigns, clubs, RAG, societies and volunteering)
- what's on (coming up and reviews of KCLSU gigs and events)
- news (King's College London, students' unions and higher education)
- lifestyle (arts, books, fashion and food)
or anything else you can think of. We're happy to review any submissions and work with you to produce something that we can all be happy with.

What format should my podcast take?
That's up to you! It could be
- you talking about your experiences
- interviews with other students, people you've worked with on placements, people you've volunteered with, local politicians, or anyone you can get in front of a microphone
- like a radio show, with chat, interviews etc
- music that you have written
- a review, of a book, film, show etc
- sketches
and, once again, anything you can think of!

How do I submit my podcast?
When you're happy with it, send it to Peter Ellender at vpcommunications@kclsu.org. As the Editor of Roar, he'll review your podcast and consult with you about it. We can't guarantee that all submissions will be featured on kclsu.org, but we'll try to publish as many as possible.
If you have any questions, Peter will be happy to answer them.
