Hi guys, welcome to KCL on the Streets!
We are a homelessness action society (formerly the Hot Chocolate Society) welcoming students from all campuses, faculties and year of study. Our goal is to help London’s homeless community the best we can, through outreach sessions and fundraising events.
We call outreach sessions our weekly meetings where we walk on the streets in small groups to talk to homeless people. It may seem simple and useless, but it does make a huge difference to their daily life. One of the things the homeless suffer the most from is loneliness: when constantly ignored in the street, they are robbed of their human dignity. This is one of the issues we can address as students, and you can be part of it!
We hold about two fundraisers per term, where we raise money to keep running our outreach sessions, to finance bigger projects such as the distribution of winter clothes or Christmas presents, or to support local charities.
