UPDATE!

In the last month I have:

Policy and Lobbying

• Liaised with Accommodation and Welfare to form a united approach to the media that goes out to students who are entering halls for the first time. This has been a success and I will be meeting with marketing to discuss the improved options for publicity that are now available to us.
• Attended space planning committees on all campus', gaining the most from the meeting on the St. Thomas' campus where at my request college are now considering increasing their projected spend on St. Thomas' House by £100,000 to provide more study space, as well as looking for a central location to build a new Post-Graduate common room.

Campaigning & Engagement

• Ordered materials for and started to plan Fairtrade Fortnight with the help of Dave Charlesworth and Steve Dixon and started to plan the moving forward of Fairtrade Westminster
• Worked with Stephen Yeung and offered my support during Healthy Living week.
• Had several meetings with members of the RAG committee to try to push the popularity of RAG at strand.

Representation

• Met with my opponent at UCL to discuss a smooth running of the Rugby Varsity.
• Met with Jenny Briggs to discuss general KCL/KCLSU site issues. Laura Hyde and I gained assurances that the cost of holding shows in the Greenwood theatre would not rise in the academic year.
• Attended two graduation ceremonies
• Attended a BUSA and a ICSC divisional meeting where I voted to allowed entries from London Southbank (non-ULU) into the pan-London and traditionally ULU based leagues.
• ...and finally... I have tried (unsuccessfully) to make Pete join the gym...

The First Few Weeks

To say the last few weeks have been 'busy' would be an understatement.

Having been out and about every single night during the first two weeks and returning to work in the morning at 10 every day, I can whole-heartedly say that I am totally exhausted. Burnt-out would be accurate as well.

Great fun though. Intense - but great fun.

The term has really kicked off now - lectures, sports, societies; everything is a go. To be honest it's great to have students back around college: the summer months may have been quiet, but they wern't half as interesting as this first term has started out to be.

As you have most likely seen, it's election time... Student Council, NUS and Academic Board.

Annoyed that you can't buy papers at the Strand anymore?
Want push for a facelift for Inverse..?

...well get to the polling stations we have set up then and vote for the candidates that you trust the most to represent you: once elected, you can then badger them to do something about it!

Nonetheless, remember that if you have a question, query, complaint or suggestion, feel free to e-mail me or anyone else from KCLSU - the reason we are here is to listen and respond to your needs!

Now I'm going to get some well earned (and much needed) sleep...

Down The Rabbit Hole

>>TRANSMISSION STARTS<<

Like Alice and her trip to Wonderland, I feel that I have started upon an adventure into the unknown.

Unlike Alice, I am not a small 10 year old girl.

It has been a very full first two months - in fact I have only just realised that I have been working here that long...

There has been a great deal going on here at KCLSU, preparations for the coming year have been undertaken in earnest: both Guy's Bar and the new Student Activities Centre are looking awesome, TuTu's has gained a brand spanking new sound system and the blue booths have gone (!) and we are getting a room specifically for Academic Advice.

A lot of money has been spent and there is a lot to show for it.

The first term is almost upon us and I hope everyone has had good holidays - I'm sure our incoming First Years will have enjoyed the traditional trip to Malia or Kavos, our Second Years the jaunt on inter-rail round Europe and the rest well... who knows what you have been up to!

Bring on the new term I say, bring it on and put chocolate sprinkles on it.

Right, I'm off to provide representation for the Knave of Hearts who has been accused by the College of stealing tarts...

>>TRANSMISSION ENDS<<
