Trusteeship is a serious responsibility requiring an active role in the governance of an organisation. Trustees
- take the big decisions about the future
- ensure everything is legal and safe
- support the head of staff
- ensure the work of the charity is carried out
- ensure the Trustee Board is up-to-date and skilled

KCLSU has 12 trustees of three types:
- four sabbatical trustees, students who also work full time as student officers to represent you
- four student trustees
- four lay trustees, non-students appointed for their skills and experience
