Sports Volunteering Start a Club Questions

Welcome to sports at KCLSU.

Playing sport is a great way to get fit and socialise, so we’ve developed a range of ways you can get involved in sport during your time at King’s. Whether you want to commit to becoming part of one of our competitive teams, or you just want to have a friendly kick about every now and again, you’re in the right place.

Competitive Sport
We support over 50 clubs ranging from our highly successful rugby and netball teams to the more niche clubs such as fencing and Ultimate Frisbee. If you’re interested in getting involved, whatever level you are currently at, have a look at our full list of current teams and information on how to get in touch.

To view current BUCS and ULU fixtures click here.

Recreational Sport
If you’re more interested in the non-competitive side of sports, why not drop-in for one of our recreational events? At the moment we’re looking for five-a-side football teams to take part in a few friendly tournaments amongst other things. If you’re interested, and have some mates who’d be willing to join you, contact sport@kclsu.org. For more details on what else is currently on offer click on the Recreational Sport link at the top of the page.

Sport in the Community
Through sports volunteering, you as a King’s student can demonstrate the power of sport to make positive changes to people’s lives and help us to establish partnerships within the local London communities. To read more about our aims, and find out how to get involved, click here.

Check out the KCL sports page.

Sports Development Programme

Fancy getting involved with sport from a whole different perspective...

As a part of our new ‘Sports Development Programme’, KCLSU are currently offering a gateway for students to gain nationally recognised qualifications in a whole range of sports. As these qualification courses can be quite costly, KCLSU will cover the costs!! So all you guys need to do is sign-up and turn up.

The basic Level 1 courses are aimed at anyone and everyone, it is open entry and participants do not need any experience to take part, just an interest in coaching and the motivation to improve their skills and understanding.

The coaching qualifications currently available are Football (Level 1), Rugby (Level 1), Netball (Level 1), Hockey (Level 1), and the Sports Leadership Award (Level 1).

If you wish to obtain a higher qualification in any of the listed sports OR you would like to gain a coaching qualification in another sport please let us know!

To get involved please email: sports@kclsu.org with the subject heading ‘Coaching’.
